Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic singer, composer and performer. Avery Sunshine combines jazz from the soul genre with R&B for a distinctive combination. Sunshine has performed everywhere from Broadway to the Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine can be described as Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta, she originates from Chester Pennsylvania where she began the musical path by singing and playing the piano in the church. Following her graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on Atlanta's R&B entertainment scene. Her voice is also included in the music video for The Fighting Temptations. The band was hired as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's play Meet the Browns in 2005. In 2007 Grammy as well as Tony Awards-winning vocalist Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director in the production staged by Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine came to national attention in the course of four consecutive performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
