Today, the actress and former cover girl is living with her family in Beverly Hills with her dogs Samantha and Olivia (above left). Ann Turkel, who was married with Richard Harris for eight years before he divorced her in the year 2000, is continuing to process the loss of Richard Harris. Turkel was raised in Manhattan and comes from an ethnically Jewish middle-class family, studied at both the Neighborhood Playhouse as well as American Musical and Dramatic Academy before turning 16. The grandmother of her is believed to be responsible for helping her develop creative skills. Ann studied acting, dance as well as voice during her formative years. By the age of 16, Ann had studied at the Musical Theatre Academy and the Neighborhood Playhouse with some of famous acting teachers around the city, including Sandy Meisner and Philip Burton. Ann began singing at the age of 16 along with fellow students, and then formed a group. She also performed a season of stock productions in the summer in the Berkshire Playhouse in Stockbridge, Massachusetts and in shows such as The Pajama Game" and West Side Story. Ann's participation with her group at a fashion show was the moment Gloria Schiff, editor of Vogue Magazine, discovered Ann. Within less than a week and a half, the editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland commissioned Ann to shoot the debut Vogue Cover together with photographer Richard Avedon. Ann was one of the United States' most well-known models, appearing on the covers of major magazines like Vogue Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and other magazines. Ann was a successful model for various cosmetic companies such as Max Factor Revlon, Chanel and Europe in Europe within two years.
